Parents, Teachers, & Teens

Fostering an awareness and appreciation of design helps young people learn about how the buildings around them came to be. It encourages them to think about the different structures around them—how each looks, feels, sounds, and functions. Behind each observation is a conversation about the decisions that architects and other design-team members made for that specific project.

Middle schoolers and teenagers might be curious about what an architect does and what it takes to become an architect in South Dakota. Drawing, creating, and problem-solving are just a few of the interest areas that could lead to a future in architecture. As they develop their skills and explore potential career paths, AIA SD can provide additional resources.
