Design in the Hills is shifting to a one-day event this year. It will be held in Rapid City on Thursday, July 20.
Tours include the Security First Bank, Hermosa School and Dinosaur Park reconstruction. The sponsor expo will be combined with happy hour at the new Ugly Graffiti storefront in downtown Rapid City. We look forward to seeing you this summer to tour a few Black Hills design projects, have plenty of engaging conversations and, of course, enjoy some food and libations.

Each year, AIA South Dakota focus on projects and places of interest in the Black Hills communities, rotating the event between the various cities in the region.
This conference is unique in the design world; while there are sponsors and continuing education credits, very little of it is provided in a traditional classroom setting. The conference is interactive and mobile. Design in the Hills is a unique gathering of architects, landscape architects, interior designers, engineers and artists from across the state, along with members of the community who all connect to celebrate and elevate the standard of design.
The Say It Loud exhibition, which focuses on elevating the contributions of diverse designers, is coming to South Dakota in September!
AIA South Dakota is one of many states participating in Beyond the Built Environment’s Say It Loud exhibits, hosted by Pascale Sablan, FAIA, NOMA. AIA South Dakota is committed to honoring the work of architects and other design professionals who contribute vitally to the built environment in this state and beyond. AIA SD has a long history of working across disciplines through our events, programming and other collaborations.
The Say It Loud South Dakota project is organized by a committee representing a number of design professions.
