The City of Sioux Falls recently passed an ordinance allowing residents to keep up to six fowl in their backyards, which has brought an avalanche of chickens to town along with a need for their coops. In light of this information the Sioux Falls Design Center along with the South Dakota Architecture Foundation will be hosting the first annual chicken coop design competition.
Entries are due July 31st, from which up to four designs will be chosen and awarded a stipend to construct their coop. Final constructed coops are then due October 1st with one of the finalist will walk away with the Grand Prize of $1,000.
