Architect Ward Whitwam honored by SD Historical Society

635593442867981492-ward7.jpgNine concrete tipis, designed by Sioux Falls architect Ward Whitwam, FAIA and built as rest sites on I90 and I29, have been listed in the National Register of Historic Places - NPS. The tipis are significant as works of art, for their contribution to the built environment of the Interstate Highway System, and as tourist sites honoring American Indian heritage in South Dakota.
